Just replaced the battery in my key fob. I got into my car with the normal key, put the fob in the ignition and now it won't come out. Evidently I need to reprogram, but how can I get the key fob out? Update (10/20/2017): I realized my car battery was the issue. It was flatlined. Left headlight - 2006-2015 Volkswagen Passat
Recommended video Use spare key: You can try starting your Passat with its second key. It will also rule out any other problem with the first key, for example, water damage. How long does the key fob battery last? Depending on how often you use the key fob or remote control of your Passat, the battery should last between two and four years.

You can usually get away with putting the key in the ignition, turning the ignition on (not starting) then bashing the lock/unlock buttons a few times. However I don't know how you go about
Since the key does sound to be turning try lubricating the cylinder and see if it turns the other way at all to unlock it.If this does not work then it will take a lock smith or someone with door unlock tools to open the door to then access the battery unfortunately.
